The value of biodiversity in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang

National Park Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park is home to primeval forest on limestone mountains in Vietnam, where the convergence of a variety of animals and plants of 3 North - Central - South. Park is considered to be where the high biological diversity in most of Vietnam, characterized by primeval forest ecosystems with limestone geological formation here that make this region taking high diversity and endemism many factors.
The entire area has six ecosystem types including forest ecosystems on limestone; montane forest ecosystems land; ecosystems caves; River ecosystem groundwater; lake ecosystems; ravine ecosystem.
About plant, preliminary surveys in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang has recorded nearly 2681 species of higher plants with 208 orchid species including many rare species listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and IUCN. There are 8 types of vegetation, including many typical forest community forest green Bach (calocedrus rupestris) limestone with over 500 years old and is considered the population of primeval forest green Bach largest remaining Vietnam allocation across the more than 2,400 hectares of forest is very important significance for conservation values globally.

About animals, preliminary recorded 823 species of vertebrate, including:

     - Class of animals: 154 species belonging to 90 breeds, 32 households, 11 sets;

     - Class of birds: 303 species belonging to 166 varieties, 55 families, 15 sets;

     - Grade Fish: 215 species belonging to 108 varieties, 38 families, 10 sets;

     - Class Reptiles: 100 species, belonging to 67 breeds, 17 families, 2 sets;

     - Amphibians: 51 species, belonging to 27 breeds, 8 families, 2 sets.

Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park is also home contains many new species to science were discovered in the late 20th century and early 21st century (3 species of amphibians, 15 species of reptiles, 10 species Chinh, 05 species arachnid attached). The region is diverse index highest primate species in Southeast Asia. With the enormous potential of biodiversity values, the Phong Nha - Ke Bang area classified in the biodiversity conservation priority importance both in '' Plan of Action Conservation of biodiversity national study '' and '' Strategy ecoregion conservation CTS '', while the national Park Phong Nha - Ke Bang is also world Wide Fund for nature (WWF) rated as one of the 238 regions Status globally important ...
