A new species for science belongs to Castor (Euphorbiaceae) was two botanists Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh and Nguyen Nghia Thin (Vietnam National University) described and published in The Gardens’ Bulletin Singapore ( episode 66 (1), pages 61-65) in January 2014.
The new species was named Bung decent platform with full scientific name is Mallotus phongnhaensis Thin & Kim Thanh. The new species are described based on specimens collected in the area of zoning solo administrative services of the National Park Phong Nha – Ke Bang in Quang Binh province on July 1, 2006 in a wave of research by scientists learn.
This is a species belonging to the genus Mallotus, Axenfeldia branch. This species is characterized by major difference compared to other species of the genus Mallotus in that it is a 1m-high shrubs, leaf blade with 6-12 secondary veins on each side and flowers growing in relative terms, bring some flowers (10- 15 male flowers). The discovery of new species has contributed to enhancing the value of biological diversity of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in particular and biodiversity for Vietnam in general.
