Scientists Vietnam and the world have discovered and announced 01 new frog species for scientific worms in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang is the scientific name chaloensis sp.nov Ichthyophis. under ichthyophiidae (Ichthyophiidae), caecilian (Gymnophiona). The new species are described based on only 01 samples (sample number: IEBR A.2011.15) obtained in a forested area near the Hoa Son commune Cha Lo, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province during Biodiversity Research Reptilian species – amphibians in 2011 by experts of the Institute of Ecology and biological Resources in collaboration with the national Park staff Phong Nha – Ke Bang performed.

Standard sample (Sample Has: IEBR A.2011.15) of species Ichthyophis chaloensis sp. nov.

 

This species lives mainly under small rocks litter along streams in the area of secondary forest in the area of expansion of the National Park Phong Nha – Ke Bang. The new species was published was added to the list of amphibians Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, bringing the total number of amphibian species to 51 species recorded. The discovery of new species contribute to enhancing the value of biological diversity of Phong Nha – Ke Bang.
