Phong Nha Cave was discovered in 1899 for the first time, and then it is used in many different purposes. According to legend, King Ham Nghi was used this place to store treasures. And during the war against American imperialism, Phong Nha Cave was requisitioned as a field hospital, where lurks avoid enemy bombs and ammunition storage warehouse.
In 1992, a group of British scientists with the University of Hanoi has conducted expeditions into the action with the mission to explore and record the material. From 18/3 to 18/4/1992 between, several expeditions were organized and successfully explored caves 7,729m with a maximum length of 50m and a maximum depth of 83m.
In April 1994, during the meeting with the Standing Committee of Quang Binh province and the other relevant departments of the regional round of exploration in Phong Nha – Ke Bang, Howard Limbert – led the expedition, said: “Phong Nha Cave is a famous cave in Vietnam and is one of the most beautiful caves in the world. Phong Nha Cave is related to many other caves in the area. We believe that the caves here may be interconnected by underground caves and therefore Phong Nha Cave is the longest country in the world “(Report geomorphological expedition Vietnam / UK May 4/1994) .
Cave expedition Royal, after the survey together with the beautiful photos, impressive, has made a big splash in the journal International Caver. And from there, Phong Nha is widely known as one of the 7 wonders First criteria:

Inside the Phong Nha
Phong Nha is the world’s largest wet with vast underground river system. However, there are a few places that has both broad high runoff water can not reach. Where visitors walk spoiled, comfortable admire the splendor of the natural stalactites created with all the magic. The cave is divided into three parts, each of which is home to many different animals and have a big difference in temperature.
Entrance area
Door and the first few meters inside the cave known as the entrance. This is the home of all the animal species living in the sun, near the edge of the entrance area. Each live animals in the park are able to do so: the birds, monkeys, fish, insects and many other species.
Mediatrix region
This is installed artificial lighting system, also known as the twilight zone, that is where the light and dark reconciled with each other, forming a fuzzy area very magical. Not many animals live in this area because there are a lot of visitors each day. If yes, then mostly found in countries such as crabs, shrimp, eel, and various fish species.
field night
After last electric light system in the entrance area from 1.200m not much was left but darkness. Here, the core experience is dark and the wind hitting the cliffs. Increasingly deeper into the shadows inside, the more exotic animals than, a lot of animals living inside the cave without light, such as fish, bats, insects …. These insects can survive and overcome the darkness with ease. Occasionally, can find lizards in the dark red but the chance to see them is quite difficult.
Cave Conservation
There are many ways to ruin tourist caves that have been accidentally created, the first reason is the most curious visitors tried to touch stalactites. You can tell that it is not legitimate reasons, but it really is true. When a person touches one of these stalactites, oils from the skin will stick to the emulsion and the water will flow through the oil brushed instead stick to form a new emulsion layers. You can imagine that hundreds of people touching each year will create a significant impact on how.
The second reason is the change of the carbon dioxide in the air. The more people into work, the balance as change. This will affect the overall temperature within them.
Chams
In the late 19th century, Leopold Michel Cadiere – legal missionaries – to participate in the Phong Nha cave exploring 600m for the first time, where he was discovered on the wall of ancient relics and also maintains an altar belong to the Cham. Cham people have lived here hundreds of years ago, and maintained their ancient cultures found throughout Vietnam (in the US base). This ancient civilization with their own ancient word has yet to be fully decoded until now and it will be kept a secret for many years.
Fossil
One other great aspect of Phong Nha cave is more fossils can be found wrapped around the side of the large limestone wall. The fossils are marine organisms such as fish, sea snails, crabs and many other species. In fact the entire surface of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is filled with fossils can be seen in the light of day after hundreds of millions of years.
So, after hundreds of millions of years of natural movement, Phong Nha cave is still full of mysteries waiting for you to discover. And the most typical cave aesthetic value, the uniqueness in Heritage Phong Nha – Ke Bang.
