World Wildlife Day

On December 20, 2013, the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a declaration to designate March 3 as “World Wildlife Day” to raise public awareness of the world of wild animals and plants. The United Nations General Assembly resolution stipulates that the CITES Secretariat is the agency to promote this event on a global level. Today, the event “World Wildlife Day” has become the most important event at the global level to recognize the important role of the wild world for humans. World Wildlife Day 2025 will be themed “Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet” to explore how we can work together to finance wildlife conservation more effectively and sustainably, and build a resilient future for both people and the planet. 2025 also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the entry into force of the CITES Convention. Staff are working on conservation and releasing animals back into the wild at Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park Identified as one of the world’s 200 important ecological regions (WWF, Global Eco-region 200), Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is a typical example of biodiversity of the Truong Son ecoregion.
