Mooc Spring Eco Trail

Mooc Spring is located approximately a 20-minute drive from Phong Nha Cave. After exploring the magnificent caves of the Phong Nha – Ke Bang World Natural Heritage Site, Mooc Spring is considered one of the most ideal and refreshing stopovers for visitors. In the local language, “Mooc” means “emerging,” referring to water that suddenly gushes up from underground. After flowing for hundreds of kilometers underground, this mysterious stream emerges on the surface with refreshingly cool water, maintaining a temperature of around 16–18°C during the summer months. According to exploration experts from the British Cave Research Association (BCRA), the phenomenon of water rising from underground at this location is highly unusual and remains unexplained. The depth of the spring pool is still unknown, posing an ongoing challenge for scientific exploration. At the source of the spring stands a steep cliff, where water continuously surges upward from beneath the ground. Geologists believe the stream may originate from underground water veins within the limestone mountain walls.

Tourism services here are diverse and engaging, including swimming in the spring, participating in thrilling activities such as cliff jumping and kayaking at Ghenh Mooc, or capturing beautiful photos at unique check-in spots around Ghenh Chum. Particularly during March and April, visitors can admire the Golden Apricot Flower Garden in full bloom along the crystal-clear stream, creating a poetic and picturesque landscape. At Mooc Spring, visitors can also take a break and enjoy a special local food platter featuring rustic dishes such as mountain stream shrimp, freshwater fish, and free-range chicken, often described with the local saying “chasing grasshoppers by day, sleeping on limestone by night” along with other unique regional specialties prepared in distinctive local styles.

• Winter: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Visiting Route:

After receiving consultation from staff, selecting a suitable service package, and completing ticket purchase procedures, visitors begin their journey following the routes below.

1. Nuoc Mooc Spring Sightseeing Package (Sightseeing)

Route: Visitors explore and take photos of the primary forest and the Mooc Spring landscape from the entrance area, proceed to Ghenh Chum Bridge, and then return via the pathway on the opposite side of the stream.

2. Sightseeing and Experience Package at Ghenh Mooc Area

Route: Visitors explore and photograph the primary forest and Mooc Spring from the entrance to Ghenh Chum Waterfall Bridge, return along the opposite side of the stream, then continue to the Ghenh Mooc area to enjoy recreational activities and swim in the spring.

3. Sightseeing and Experience Package at Ghenh Chum Area

Route: Visitors explore and photograph the primary forest and Mooc Spring from the entrance, travel throughout the entire Ghenh Chum area, and participate in recreational activities and swimming at the Ghenh Chum bathing area.

4. Combined Experience Package at Ghenh Mooc and Ghenh Chum

Route: Visitors fully participate in all sightseeing activities and experiential services at Mooc Spring, including both the Ghenh Mooc and Ghenh Chum areas, following the routes outlined in the packages above.
