Explore Hang Va - Hang Nuoc Nut: An adventure through living limestone masterpieces

Tucked away in the core zone of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Hang Va and Hang Nuoc Nut are among the world’s most unique wet caves, renowned for their spectacular underground waterfalls, crystal-clear pools, and thousands of rare cone-shaped stalagmites. Discovered by local resident Ho Khanh in 1992 and officially surveyed by the British-Vietnamese Cave Expedition Team in 2012, both caves are believed to share the same underground water system as the legendary Son Doong Cave, offering a fascinating glimpse into the area’s geological formation.

The 2-day-1-night Hang Va Expedition Tour, operated exclusively by Oxalis Adventure, is ideal for short-term explorers seeking technical challenges and natural wonder. This journey includes trekking through 15km of jungle trails, river crossings, rope traversing, and an overnight stay in a jungle campsite.

The tour’s highlight is the surreal tower cone stalagmites - a natural formation unlike any other in the world. These cone-shaped formations, some over 2 meters tall, rise from calcite-rich pools and are thought to have formed during flood seasons, a phenomenon that continues to fascinate scientists. Hang Va was named one of the most exciting new adventure tours in Asia by Forbes, and was featured by CNN Travel among the “7 Best Cave Experiences in Vietnam.” In November 2023, it appeared in the BBC’s globally acclaimed documentary Planet Earth III.

This expedition is limited to 10 guests per group to ensure safety, environmental conservation, and a high-quality experience. It is open to guests aged 16-70 who are in good physical condition. All participants receive full safety instruction and equipment prior to departure.
