Chay River – Dark Cave is a signature exploration and adventure tourism route of Phong Nha – Ke Bang, where pristine and tranquil natural beauty blends harmoniously with exciting outdoor adventure activities, offering visitors fresh and unforgettable experiences.

Discovered in 1990, Dark Cave is not renowned for dazzling stalactite formations, but instead impresses visitors with its truly unique experiences. Most notably, the natural mud bath lake located deep inside the cave, formed from mineral-rich soft mud deposited during the rainy season, allows visitors to relax, enjoy natural body massage, and rejuvenate their energy in a completely unspoiled environment.

In addition to cave exploration, visitors can take part in a wide range of thrilling outdoor activities such as a 400-meter zipline crossing the Chay River, short ziplines, cliff jumping, kayaking on the crystal-clear river, water slides, and many other exciting river-based games. Each activity delivers an exhilarating sense of adventure while ensuring visitor safety.

Chay River – Dark Cave is not only a destination for adventure lovers, but also an ideal place to relax, immerse oneself in nature, and create unforgettable memories at the Phong Nha – Ke Bang World Natural Heritage Site.

I. Visiting Schedule

Opening hours (open daily):

• Summer: 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM
• Winter: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Duration: approximately 4 hours (depending on the selected service package)

Chay River – Dark Cave Tour Route

Upon arrival at the tourist area, visitors will receive detailed consultation on available service packages, then proceed to purchase tickets and receive specialized safety equipment appropriate for each experience package.

1. Chay River – Dark Cave Exploration Package

Visitors are equipped with professional safety gear for cave exploration, including harnesses and life jackets, before moving to the zipline tower to experience the 400-meter zipline crossing the Chay River directly to the entrance of Dark Cave.

Here, visitors transform into real explorers, venturing into the pristine cave interior, admiring ancient fossils dating back hundreds of millions of years, and especially enjoying the only cave mud bath experience in Vietnam, featuring a natural mineral mud pool deep inside the cave.

After completing the cave exploration, visitors return to the river area to continue participating in outdoor activities such as kayaking, river ziplining, cliff jumping, water slides, and many other exciting water sports.

2. Chay River – Dark Cave Standard Package

With the Standard Package, visitors do not participate in Dark Cave exploration or the cave mud bath. However, all other river-based activities are fully included, similar to the Exploration Package, offering lively moments of relaxation and fun amid nature.

3. Chay River Recreation Package

This package is suitable for visitors who prefer light recreational activities and relaxation on the river, including swimming, kayaking, short zipline rides, adventure bridges, water slides, and other water-based games.

(This package does not include Dark Cave exploration, cave mud bathing, or the 400-meter zipline.)

• Adults: 450,000 VND/pax/visit
• Children (1.1 m – 1.3 m): 150,000 VND/pax/visit

2. Chay River – Dark Cave Standard Package

• Adults: 220,000 VND/pax/visit
• Children (1.1 m – 1.3 m): 110,000 VND/pax/visit

(Includes short zipline and 400-meter double-cable zipline, kayaking, river swimming, Sasuke adventure bridge, water slides, and river games...)

3. Chay River Recreation Package

• Adults: 150,000 VND/pax/visit
• Children (1.1 m – 1.3 m): 110,000 VND/pax/visit

III. Important Notes for Visitors

1. Suitable Clothing

• Wear light, comfortable sportswear; bring dry clothes for changing.
• For cave mud bathing:

         Women: two-piece bikini

         Men: swim shorts, bare-chested

• Bring towels and personal toiletries for use after the tour.

2. Essential Personal Items

• Waterproof phone bags (available for purchase at the site).
• Dry bags for storing wet clothes and belongings after water activities.

3. Health and Physical Requirements

• Visitors joining the Dark Cave mud bath must be at least 1.1 m tall; participants on the 400-meter zipline must weigh over 40 kg.
• Children under 1.3 m in height or under 40 kg are arranged in separate swimming and play areas to ensure safety.
• Not recommended for:

      People with heart conditions, high blood pressure, or weak joints

      Pregnant women

      Those with a fear of heights

4. Other Important Notes

• Avoid bringing valuable items to prevent loss or damage during water activities.
• Carefully follow all safety instructions provided by staff.
• Do not swim or enter deep-water areas without guidance.
• In case of abnormal weather conditions (heavy rain, flooding, storms), the tourist site may temporarily suspend operations to ensure visitor safety.
