On 25th October 2017, Bo Trach Forest Protection Unit has transferred one individuals of Southern Pig-tailed Macaque (Macaca leonina) to Center for Rescue, Conservation and Creatures development.
It is 7,7kg of weight which was raised by Tran Van Ky – a resident lives in Van Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. After getting the propaganda and mobilization of rangers, he has realized that the captive wildlife is illegal, need to hand over it to rescue and release it back into the wild.
Southern Pig-tailed Macaque (Macaca leonina) is endangered, rare and precious wildlife species of group IIB as stipulated in Decree 32/2006/ND-CP dated on 30th March 2006 by the Government on Management of Endangered, Precious and rare Species of Wild Plants and Animals.
From 1st October untill now, Center for Rescue, Conservation and Creatures development received five individuals, including: two individual of Southern Pig-tailed Macaque (Macaca leonina), two individual of Rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) and one individual of Assamese Macaque (Macaca assamensis). Veterinarians of Center for Rescue, Conservation and Creatures development are taking care of them and release them into natural environment when they are fine./.
